Wow & Flutter

A VST plug-in which emulates the playback speed imperfections of
the pre-digital era.

built by www.interruptor.ch

Features:
=========

- playback speed is modulated in realtime by up to six oscillators

- intuitive controls: Non-linearly scaled controls allow to directly
set the perceived pitch deviation depth and rate resulting from
  the playback speed modulation.

- dual mode: In dual mode the left and the right channel are modulated
  separately.

- flange mode: When the modulated signal is mixed with the original signal
a flanging effect occurs. This feature recalls the times when
recording engineers created a flange effect by applying pressure on the
  tape reel with their hand.
Additional controls for feedback and delay allow to create more intense
flange effects. Although the unit can be pushed to self-oscillation in
extreme settings it will never cause digital clipping thanks to a compressor
algorithm inserted into the feedback path.

- A built-in test tone generator makes it easy to quickly check a particular
setting with different signals or to use the plug-in as a self-contained
  "noise maker".

- If a control has no influence on the sound in a certain mode it will
  disappear from the surface.

- Enough presets to quickly explore all possibilities

- All parameters are controllable by midi controllers.

- Pop-up hints help to understand the function of each control on the user
interface. These appear when the mouse rests over a control.

- Also the assignment of midi controllers is documented in the pop-up hints.

Controls:
=========

- If dual mode is disabled only three Oscillators are active which modulate the left
and the right channel at the same time.

- In dual mode an additional panel with three more oscillators is displayed.
In this mode the three primary oscillators will only affect the left channel and
the three secondary oscillators will affect the right channel. The stereo width
slider can be used if the stereo effect is too extreme.

- Wow: low frequency playback speed modulation
The modulation rate can be varied from 0.11 to 10 Hz using the Rate knob.
Alternatively any frequency can be typed in to the text field below the knob

- Flutter: high frequency playback speed modulation
The rate knob range is 10 Hz to 40 Hz.

- Mid: additional oscillator for the mid range
The rate knob range is 0.11 Hz to 20 Hz.

- Level Coarse / Level Fine
These two controls affect the modulation intensity.
The "level coarse" slider can be moved from 1.00 to 2.00
  - 1.00 corresponds to no modulation
  - 2.00 will cause a modulation where the maximal frequency heard is twice as high
as the input signal (1 Octave above)
  - An even larger modulation range can be achieved by typing a value into the
text field below the "level coarse" slider
The "level fine" knob adds a small value between 0 and 0.035 to the coarse value.
  - If both controls are at the minimum position no modulation will be heard. This
is indicated by the red LED light which will extinguish.

Installation:
=============
extract the zip file to your VST plugins folder. Make sure the option
"use folder names" is enabled. A new folder "Wow_n_Flutter_1_0"
containing the following files will be created:

Wow n Flutter.dll
license.txt
readme.txt
screenshot.jpg
